Built through years of adventure travel across more than 40 countries, Flow State Guiding was created from a desire to share wild places and meaningful experiences. From remote mountain ranges and coastal jungles to alpine river valleys and islands around the world, these experiences shaped a passion for creating immersive backcountry adventures that leave a lasting impression.

Founder Ian Middleton brings more than 25 years of riding experience across Europe, Asia, South America, and North America, including a semi-professional riding background in his early years. An ACMG Rock Climbing Guide with extensive experience mountain bike guiding, sea kayak leadership, rope access, rigging, film safety, and risk management, Ian has spent over a decade working professionally in remote and technical environments throughout coastal British Columbia.

Over the past decade, Ian has dedicated himself to exploring, developing, and refining this particular alpine terrain, carefully piecing together the best granite descents, traverses, access routes, alongside a stunning camp location, to create a world-class riding experience. What began as personal exploration evolved into a long-term vision: offering authentic backcountry mountain bike adventures for riders seeking more than bike parks and groomed trails.

Today, Flow State Guiding specializes in technical alpine slab riding experiences that combine helicopter access, remote wilderness hospitality, and curated terrain for experienced riders looking to experience real mountain biking in some of BC’s most spectacular landscapes.
